Republican lawmakers in US senate blocked new funding for Ukraine and Israel worth $106 billion. They’ve rejected this funding even after multiple requests from President Joe Biden. Republicans demanding immigration reforms to be added as part of the package.

President Biden said: 

“They’re willing to literally kneecap Ukraine on the battlefield and damage our national security in the process”

Biden warned of horrific outcomes for Ukraine and a “gift to Viladimir Putin”; in case congress failed to pass this bill. The package includes about $61 billion to help Ukraine to built up pressure on Russia during the freezing winter months. It also includes help for Israel and Gaza.

All 49 Republican lawmakers in the upper house voted against the approval, criticizing government’s failure to resolve issue of migrants crossing from Mexico to United States.

Russian administration celebrated the deadlock in Congress, saying they’re hoping lawmakers will keep blocking the Biden’s aid proposal.
